I used to follow foxes
around Deptford,
South East London.

I used to take their photos
with a point and shoot film
camera.

One would led me to another and to another
until I felt disoriented and lost among houses
and streets that I recognized by day  but were the foxes’ territory by night.

The Hunt (2019)  is a documentation of
those nights.

By night, the streets, parks,
and rubbish bins become their territory.
Private property doesn't exist, they sneak into backyards and disappear behind cars,
the lands
cape is no longer inhabited by humans.

The resulting series of photographs  are blurry, out of focus, noisy.

They are not a set up of an ideal,  not a traditional portrait of wildlife,
not a pristine landscape.

They show society's relationship with nature in a context where wildlife is decreasing and species appear to be trespassing the urban environment,
making them a pest rather than cute pets.
